May 17: Opus 4 Concert opening, 1997

Jon CurtisSeason of the Day, SOTD - May

We begin these “Season of the Day” moments with what is our earliest known video of Consort, the opening of Opus 4, 1997 filmed where we began, in Stewart Chapel on top of the hill at San Francisco Theological Seminary.

You may well wonder who these young people are!  They are listed at the bottom of the Program found here:  https://www.consortchorale.org/1997-season/.  See how many names you can match with faces!

Quiz: Can you name 7 people from this video who were with Consort last year?
(answer will be given tomorrow)

You may also notice that Allan introduces the (not yet titled) Associate Directors and the 2nd year of a format having concentrated rehearsals during the week before the concert.  Consort did not start out this way, but only adopted the rehearsal schedule we are now familiar with after Allan and Ann had moved to Oregon in 1995.  It enabled Consort to continue with Allan, as a summertime choral project.

The opening songs featured in this video are: Hail, Sacred Music, Hail by William Billings, and Adoramus Te by Quirino Gasparini.
