Sing With Us!

Calling soprano, alto, tenor, and bass voices

We invite singers seeking an advanced ensemble experience to audition for Consort Chorale. Singers should possess classically-based vocal training, choral experience, solid musicianship, and a commitment to artistic excellence.

Please submit audition materials through the Audition Request Form. You will be asked to provide the following:

  • A description of your musical background and experience
  • A video or audio recording of a solo piece of your choice

You will be contacted to set up a date and time for a Zoom audition.

FAQs

What is the audition process?

You can submit an Audition Request Form at any time. Auditions will be scheduled May 1 to May 20. Selected singers will be contacted directly to schedule an interview with the Artistic Director and/or Associate Conductors via Zoom. The audition will consist of a little vocalizing, a short sight-reading piece, and an appropriate solo of your choice (art song or solo from a musical) sung a cappella, and a brief interview. The audition should take 15-20 minutes.

What distinguishes Consort Chorale from other adult choirs?

Founded by Allan Robert Petker in 1994 with assistance from Bob Friestad, Consort Chorale is a summer project choir that rehearses weekly in June, July, and August, concluding with an intensive week of nightly rehearsals and culminating in a crowd-pleasing concert. Beginning in 2019, the chorale has included a nationally known conductor to share the podium (Bradley Ellingboe, Jennaya Robison, David Dickau, Brandon Boyd). Our 75-minute concerts end with a wine and cheese reception.

What kind of music does Consort perform?

University-level choral repertoire from numerous musical eras is a feature of the chorale’s programming.  Choral pieces are a mix of a cappella and accompanied, some with a small chamber orchestra.

You can view our previous programs here.

Where and when are the rehearsals and concert?

The initial read-through, Saturday retreats, Consort Week rehearsals, and the concert will take place at First Presbyterian Church in San Anselmo. The location of Monday evening rehearsals is St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Belvedere.
