Number five on Kevin’s favorites list is “Magnificat.” Consort sang it for Opus 19, in 2012. Then many of us went to New York to sing it again at Carnegie Hall in May of 2015. Allan Petker also conducted the piece at that concert.
Video recording was not allowed at the Carnegie concert, but here are some photos from that trip.
Quiz of the Day We have had a second opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. Can you name the year, song, composer, and conductor for that performance? (Answer below) |
I. Magnificat
My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is His name. And His mercy is on them that fear Him from generation to generation.
II. He Hath Come to Aid His Servant Israel
He has come to aid his servant Israel. He has come to remember his promises of mercy.
III. Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
