Berkshire Choral International (BCI) performance of Vaughan Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem” and the Northern California premiere of Damien Geter’s acclaimed “Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow” on Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Weill Recital Hall at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. The Santa Rosa Symphony Orchestra joins BCI’s 100-member chorus for this concert. Ordering online https://tickets.sonoma.edu.

Composed during troubled times, the works in this program offer a universal vision for peace and renewal. “Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow” was inspired by the disproportionate impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the Black community. Based on Bach’s Cantata BWV 12 “Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen” (“Weeping, Lamentation, Worry, Despair”), it expresses the process of moving from fear to hope. More information about this concert!

BCI offers amateur singers from throughout the United States professional-level choral experiences during which they study, improve their musical skills, and sing great repertoire. This concert concludes an immersive week of singing and learning.
