Opus 17 Coming Up
Dear Consort Singers,
The centerpiece of this summer’s concert will be Vivaldi’s Dixit Dominus, a work scholars are calling “the most
important Vivaldi discovery in 75 years.” Unmasked from its erroneous cataloging in 2005, the work has been
indisputably recognized as a work by Vivaldi, and recently published by Ricordi. We may be presenting the
premiere performance of this work in California.
The program will open with an Iroquois calling song, Yanaway
Heyona, many of you sang in Mendocino, this time with proper staging. From the “lush and lovely” category,
Richard Burchard’s Miserere Mei, James Biery’s O Sacrum Convivium, and Kevin Memley’s Ave Maria top the
list, plus a revisit of Guy Forbes’ O Nata Lux will be on the program. We will fill the rest of the program with
some choral gems and spiritual arrangements, all potential concert pieces for the Dalmatian Coast Tour in 2011.
A small budget orchestra will be included in the accompaniment design.

Requirements beginning 2010:
- Alumni who sang in the 2009 season have priority placement and need not re-audition.
- Alumni from previous years must re-audition.
- Although we can not guarantee openings, we will have auditions for returning alumni and new singers on May 21, beginning at 5 p.m. - Interested singers must contact Bob for appointment by May 14 at 415-568-0550 or 1RAF@msn.com.
- Singers may not miss more than one of Allan’s rehearsals: May 21, June 14, July 10.
- Singers may not miss more than 4 of the associate conductor rehearsals.
- All singers must attend all scheduled Consort-week rehearsals.

Your 12th Season Concert CD Now
The
splendid CD recording of our excellent 2005 concert will
be available at the May 19, 2006 opening rehearsal. If
you wish to pre-order, email the Dean@consortchorale.org or
purchase copies at the rehearsal.
Cost
is $15 for a single copy; or $12 for multiple copies.
Payment is by cash or check made payable to Consort
Chorale. The proceeds of all CD sales
go directly to the chorale as a fund raiser. Past
