we go for Opus 14
Dear Consort Singers,
Ariel Quintana's MASS
FOR TWO WORLDS brings Argentinian
rhythms to the traditional mass in a fresh
and inspiring way. Orchestrated for chamber instruments
and piano, Ariel's MASS will be the centerpiece
for our 2007 summer concert (those expecting the Vivaldi
DIXIT will be satisfied at a later date).
Important
news flash: plans are underway for a joint chorale
tour (Santa Clarita Master Chorale and Consort Chorale)
in mid to late June of 2008 to Prague-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest
(details to follow separately). Our
repertoire this year is selected in part to prepare
for that tour.
The theme is "American Composers," so
this
summer we will sing Hogan's "Battle of Jericho",
Stroop's "Amor de me Alma", Ellingboe's "Be
Music
Night" and Bock's "Scarborough Fair." We
will also include some gems from our past that both groups
have
sung, such as Whitacre's "Lux Arumque", Helvey's "O
Lux Beatissima", Lauridsen's "O Nata Lux",
Gawthrop's "Sing Me to Heaven", Petker's "Give
Me Words", and Orban's "Daemin Irrepit Callidus."

Preliminary calculations look good for being able to
pay all 2007 expenses providing we sell at least $2100
in tickets. We decided to again offer our 2-for-1 deal
to new listeners who otherwise might not attend. |

Your 12th Season Concert CD Now
The
splendid CD recording of our excellent 2005 concert will
be available at the May 19, 2006 opening rehearsal. If
you wish to pre-order, email the Dean@consortchorale.org or
purchase copies at the rehearsal.
Cost
is $15 for a single copy; or $12 for multiple copies.
Payment is by cash or check made payable to Consort
Chorale. The proceeds of all CD sales
go directly to the chorale as a fund raiser. Past
